Cheryl Cole has decided to release her next album under her married name, reports suggest.

The singer is currently separated and will soon be divorcing her footballer husband Ashley Cole but is to keep his surname rather then returning to her maiden name Tweedy.

A source told The Sun: “Cheryl has decided her married name will stay. She feels the most successful period of her career has been under the name Cole.

“She’s established in Europe. Going back to her maiden name Tweedy would be confusing.

“It also shows she is bigger than Ashley and prepared to be grown up about a difficult time in her life.”

The move is said to be influenced by Tina Turner after the star kept her husband’s name after their 1976 divorce.

The source confirmed: “She is a fan of Tina Turner. Tina was divorced during her career but decided to stick with her married name because it was how she was best known.”

Cheryl is due to perform the first single from her new album on the X Factor in October.

Taio Cruz has admitted that Cheryl Cole is a talented singer and allegedly had doubts she would cope as a solo artist.

The star wrote and produced track Stand Up on Cheryl’s album 3 Words.

Speaking to BBC News, Taio said: “I was quite pleasantly surprised. A lot of people – including myself – had forgotten that she could sing, so when she went into the booth, I was like, ‘Wow, you can really do this’.”

He added: “She is exactly the person you see on TV. Her personality is not false, she’s a lovely, laid back confident woman, who loves her music and we made some good tunes together.”

Cheryl’s album 3 Words is out now.

Nadine Coyle is dreading returning to work with Girls Aloud this week, reports suggest.

The UK’s biggest girl band will be supporting Coldplay at London’s Wembley Arena after taking a break for the summer to work on individual projects.

A friend of Nadine told the Belfast Telegraph: “I don’t think there has been much contact between Nadine and the others since they went their separate ways at the start of the summer so I wouldn’t be surprised if things feel a bit awkward and strained when they meet up.

“I think Nadine must be really dreading going back this week and I guess she must feel like quitting sometimes.”

The source added that Nadine living in Los Angeles is putting a strain on the band: “She’s trying to juggle two lives – one in LA with her family and boyfriend Jason and one in London with Girls Aloud.

“I’ve heard she’s been thinking very seriously about her future. I’m sure she’s hoping that once she’s back in London she will be fine and the gig will give her a chance to bond with the girls again.”

Girls Aloud are due to record at least three more albums.
